I volunteered in the library at Marlow about five years ago. It was a Friday so each class got to play instead of working. Carly’s class came in, and I was wandering between groups of students encouraging them in their fun. Carly (whom my mom, the computer lab teacher, had told me a little bit about) asked me to play with her and her group of friends. Of course I couldn’t say no. After playing with them for a while, Carly looked up at me with a huge grin and said “Do you know who I love?” Expecting her to say her mom or dad, a friend, or Jesus, I asked “Who?” Her smile broadened and her eyes sparkled, and she said “You!” I chuckled, thanked her, and told her I loved her too. But that small moment in time is something I have carried with me ever since. It reminds me of how we are called to love all people, as they are made in the image of God. Carly’s loving spirit is immensely impactful! I am praying for her family, and am praising God that she is dwelling in His presence!
