Wesley James Hallman, 69, of East Flat Rock, NC died early Saturday morning, April 4, 2020 at the Elizabeth House in Hendersonville, NC after losing his battle with cancer.
Mr. Hallman was born on June 29, 1950 in Takoma Park, MD to the late Ralph and Hazel L. (Miller) Hallman, Jr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David and brother-in-law Dave Spicer.
Wesley was a graduate of Southern Adventist University (formerly known as Southern Missionary College) where he obtained a BA degree in Theology and a minor in History. He attended one year of seminary study at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan before spending the next 5 years in ministry in the Chesapeake Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Wesley and his wife spent two years as missionaries to Micronesia on an island in the state of Chuuk, teaching 3rd and 4th graders. Upon their return to the States, he took a job at Lakemont Cottages doing grounds and maintenance work. He also worked for Fletcher Academy Industries in the maintenance department until he retired in 2017 due to his health.
Mr. Hallman loved to share his best friend, Jesus, through mission and community service work, serving as an elder and adult Sabbath School teacher in the Upward Seventh-day Adventist Church, leading young people in Pathfinders and volunteering at the Upward SDA Elementary School. He loved to help anyone in need.
Wesley is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joyce E. (Ingersoll); two daughters,
Carrie R. Hallman of Flat Rock, NC and Melissa D. (Chris) Smith of Grove City, OH. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Centurion, Alexandrea (Lexi), and Max of Grove City, OH; two sisters, Judee Spicer (Dave) of Ooltewah, TN and Karen (Clifford) Ingersoll of Diana, TX; a sister-in-law, Peggy (David) Dunn Hallman of Portland, TN; and aunt, Ruth Heller of East Stroudsburg, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews and cousins.

Mr. Hallman’s family wishes to thank the staff of Four Seasons Hospice for their loving support and tender care of Wesley through the last months and weeks of his life.
Wesley will be forever missed by his loving wife and family and many close friends.

Mr. Hallman will be privately interred at the Upward Memorial Garden of the Upward Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hendersonville, NC.
