Virginia Mae McClure Kick

November 24, 1923 - March 4, 2022

Virginia Mae Kick, 98, of Hendersonville died Friday, March 4, 2022 at The Life Care Center of Hendersonville. Virginia “Gini” McClure was born November 24, 1923 in Toledo, Ohio to Harold J McClure and Thelma E Leslie McClure. Gini was married to Robert “Bob” J Kick in 1945 and together they lived in Dayton, Beavercreek, Bonita Springs, and Hendersonville for 69 years. Bob passed away in 2014 at the age of 91. Along with her parents and husband she is preceded in death by her brother H Robert McClure, her sister C Aileen McClure Ciprian, her son Robert “John” Kick Jr. and her son James J Kick.

Gini spent much of her life around water. Whether it was swimming for exercise, teaching swimming, synchronize swimming (she was nicknamed the ‘Naughty Bear’ because she could not hear the commands while underwater), and scuba diving. She loved music: whether it was singing in church choirs, playing the organ, or dancing. She and Bob square danced for many years. Gini always had a smile on her face. She loved life. For many years she would volunteer as a clown ‘Cookie the Clown’ in hospitals and parties with the grandkids. She loved reading inspirational books and traveling the world (her travels took her across America, Mexico, Brazil, Canada, Europe, and Iran). But many of us remember her for playing games with us. You just had to watch her because she would change the rules in the middle of the game. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Gini is survived by her son Mark L Kick (& Soodi) of Eagle CO, her son Daniel D Kick (& Dorothy) of Tolland CT, and eight Grandchildren: Kerry Kick of Rancho Santa Margarita CA, Steven Kick (& Jodie) of Rancho Santa Margarita CA, Robyn Kick of Mars Hill NC, Mahan Kick (& Missy) of Raleigh NC, Lilia Brown (& Nico) of Eagle CO, Tamara Kick of Norfolk VA, Michelle Kick (& Michael Kane) of Westborough MA and Heather Kick of Lafayette CO. She was also blessed with ten great grandchildren: Scott, Wesley, Madeline, Hana, Harper, Tyler, Paxton, Isaac, Elliott and Evelyn.

Donations in Virginia’s memory can be sent to a charity of the donor’s choice.
