Virginia Enloe Lancaster

January 25, 1936 - March 9, 2021

Virginia Ann Enloe Lancaster, 85, quietly departed this life on Tuesday, March 9th, 2021 at Carolina Village in Hendersonville. She was born the daughter of W.J. and Elsie Enloe of Edneyville on January 25th 1936. Virginia was a graduate of Edneyville High School, attended Meredeth College, and graduated from the Mission School of Nursing in Asheville.

Virginia was married to her beloved husband, Robert Lee Lancaster for 59 years. Together they raised three sons: Gary, Brett, and Patrick, on their apple farm in Edneyville.

In addition to raising her boys and caring for the farm, Virginia was devoted to her vocation of nursing. In her career as a registered nurse with Henderson County Internists, she provided loving care and comfort to patients for more than four decades. In addition to her official duties, she selflessly continued to serve, making voluntary house calls to administer shots, deliver medicine, and check in on patients after hours. In retirement, she fondly remembered the camaraderie with the nurses and doctors she worked with and their shared dedication to patients.

Throughout her life, Virginia was anchored by a strong and abiding Christian faith. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church where she served the congregation playing the piano and organ. Her faith was evident in her kind, humble, and gentle spirit. She had a servant’s heart.

In her later years, Virginia was an active resident of Carolina Village. She was very fond of the staff, who became friends and throughout her time there, provided her exceptional care, love, and attention.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and son, Brett. She is survived by sons, Gary (Bennett) of Dripping Springs, TX; Patrick (Leslie) of Edneyville; granddaughters, Kaylin (Michael) Merrill, Kayce (Josh) Watson, Virginia (Ryan) Grojean, and Emily Lancaster and her husband, Matt Favero; great-grandchildren, Raleigh and Sienna Grojean, Blake Watson and Tanner Merrill; and many nieces and nephews.

Virginia Ann was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was loved and admired by her family. She will be missed and forever cherished by them and the community she served.

A graveside service honoring Virginia will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 13th 2021 in the Mt Moriah Baptist Church cemetery. The family respectfully requests that guests observe COVID protocols.
