Gifts & Memorial Donations

Veronica Laskarin-Senn, 95, of Hendersonville went to be in the loving arms of Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 7, 2021. During the Progressive Era of Immigration, Veronica made her way from Zdiar, Slovakia with her late mother, Maria Oleksakova,  to The Bronx where they made their home. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Pete Laskarin; a second husband, Harry Senn; brothers, Anton Bachleda and John Bachleda; and sisters, Rosalia (Rose) Lynch and Mary Buchlein.

Veronica retired as a secretary from North East Utilities and then spent a few years between Connecticut and Florida, but had made Hendersonville, North Carolina, her home in 1994. In Veronica’s free time, she volunteered with the Catholic Women’s Guild, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Auxiliary of Pardee Hospital. She enjoyed hiking, dancing, playing cards and shuffleboard, theater and browsing thrift shops were also favorite leisure activities spent with friends and family.

Left to cherish Veronica’s memory are her children, two sons, Peter Laskarin of Flat Rock and Joseph Laskarin of West Virgina; a daughter, Christa Appletree of New Hampshire; stepchildren David and Elizabeth Senn; brother, Steve Bachleda of Connecticut; nephews, Kenny, Kevin and James Lynch, Father Neal Buchline and Stewart Bachleda; a niece, Cathy Jenkins; several grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 6PM Thursday, January 14, 2021 in the Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home with Father Torres officiating. Click HERE to view the livestream of this service through Facebook.
