Thomas Daly

Thomas I. Daly, 85, of Hendersonville, NC, (formerly of Westwood, NJ) passed away December 6, 2009 at the Elizabeth House.

Born in Woodside, NY, he was a proud veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Air Corps in the US and N. Africa. He was an active member of Immaculate Conception RC Church in Hendersonville. While a resident of Westwood, he served as a member of the Town Council (1967-1973), a Little League coach, and later served as a Commissioner for the community until his relocation to NC in 1988.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Catherine (Kit) Daly; seven children, Thomas (Gail) of Tucson, AZ; Brian (Shelly) of Needham, MA; Steven (Anne) of N. Andover, MA; Tim Daly of Hackensack, NJ; Eileen (Fred) Prybol of Alpharetta, GA; and Maureen and Christine Daly, both of Hackensack, NJ. He is further survived by his thirteen grandchildren, Erika (Steve) Fitzgerald; Kendra (Ryan) Hicks; Tricia (Justin) Jochum; Erin and Aidan Daly; Brendan, Tom and Maura Daly; Bill and Jennifer Daly; Kevin, Connor and Cameron Prybol; and by two great-granddaughters, Emma Fitzgerald and Ava Hicks. He is survived by his two brothers, Robert (Anna Lou) Daly of Milford, CT, and the Rev. Christopher Daly of Riverdale, NY. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary (Daly) Lemak of Watkins Glen, NY.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, February 24, 2010 in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Angels at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, followed by a reception at the church, which will be provided by Rose’s Ministry. He will be interred at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.

The love for family was paramount in his life. He was a superb role model for his children, grandchildren, and for his many nieces and nephews, and he was greatly loved by all. He placed great value on his many friendships and his solid faith in Godís goodness and love.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
