Terry Franklin Baker, 62, passed away on February 1, 2021, at Pelican Health at Asheville, after a long period of declining health. Mr. Baker was born September 3, 1958 in Lynchburg, VA, and was a longtime resident of Henderson County. He was preceded in death by his father F. Richard “Dick” Baker.
He graduated from Camden Military Academy in Camden, SC in 1976. While at Camden, he was a member of the elite bayonet drill team, finishing his studies a year early.
He worked in the construction industry for over 20 years in Hendersonville, Asheville and Clearwater, FL. Mr. Baker was in a serious construction accident in 1997, which led to two decades of declining health and multiple surgeries.
Terry was a passionate outdoor enthusiast, enjoying hunting, fishing, boating, motorcycle riding and playing golf. His love of the outdoors and the mountains started as child and continued throughout his life. He had a zest for life and a twinkle in his eye for new adventures.
Mr. Baker is survived by his mother, Betty Jackson Baker, of Hendersonville; brother, Richard Gary Baker and wife Hope, of Winnsboro, SC; and a sister Karen Elizabeth Baker, of Hendersonville.
The family would like to thank, Wendy McKenize, for the years of loving support and friendship she gave Terry and his family during his illness.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, February 5, 2021 in the chapel of Shuler Funeral Home, 125 Orr’s Camp Road, Hendersonville with Daniel Tipton officiating.
