Susan Lee Boone

May 5, 1953 - April 28, 2020

Susan Lee Boone, 66, of East Flat Rock, NC died with her husband by her side after an extended illness early Tuesday morning, April 28, 2020 at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, NC.

Mrs. Boone was born on Tuesday, May 5, 1953 in Henderson County, NC to the late David and Nancy (Edney) Bennett. In 1992 in Gaffney, SC as the former Susan Lee Bennett she married her loving husband of 27 years, Mr. Bryan E. Boone who survives. She was 1971 graduate of Hendersonville High School and later was employed as a ward clerk at Pardee Hospital. The one thing that separated her from all of the rest of us was her wonderful laughter. Lee as she wanted to be called was so impressed with her father’s devotion to the Henderson County Rescue Squad, that she ended up helping him train others in that organization. She eventually became the first certified female EMT instructor for the North Carolina Rescue Squad Association.

In addition to her husband she leaves behind to cherish her memory her brother, Wayne D. “George” Bennett and his wife, Alida of Elkhart, IN; a close friend, Nedra Moles of Hendersonville, NC and her sister, Ann McNabb also of Hendersonville.

At the family’s request there will be a memorial service to be held in honor of Mrs. Boone’s memory at a later date.

John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: believe in God, believe also in me. In my father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you. I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

For all who knew her, we will be less fortunate to live in a world that she is no longer a part of and will miss her so very very much.

Arrangements for Mrs. Boone are in the care of Shuler Funeral Home of Hendersonville, NC (828) 693-5220. Online condolences may be shared at
