Sophia Vogrin Barnwell, 85, of Hendersonville, died Thursday, December 6, at Golden Living Center. A native of Yugoslavia, she had been a resident of Henderson County since 1945. She was the wife of the late Otis Barnwell and was also preceded in death by a son, Ray Barnwell. She had worked for C.P. Clare Co., loved gardening, cooking and the Henderson County Tailgate Market. Mrs. Barnwell is survived by her son, Jerry Barnwell of Hendersonville; four grandchildren, Matthew Barnwell, Jan Orr, Jason Barnwell, Michael Barnwell and four great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Deborah Greer for her devoted care and friendship of Mrs. Barnwell. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, December 9, at Barnwell Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Anthony Craver will officiate.

    I'm gonna miss my mawmaw but she's in a better place. I'll get to see her again soon. I can see her smiling and giggling with Jesus because she was always smiling and laughing. She was always in a sweet mood. She never changed. I love you Mawmaw. See you soon.

    Jerry,Jan and Jason Mrs. Barnwell was a kind women. I have fond memories of her. I use to enjoy going to visit her and her showing us her garden (first tommy toe tomatoes I ever ate).She will be missed. I love y'all sending my prayers Amy.
