Sibyl Clark Farr Lange, 90, of Hendersonville, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 28, 2021.
Sibyl was the daughter of the late John and Dorothy Strickland Farr. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John (Jack) B. Lange, MD. She is also preceded in death by her siblings Dorothy Farr Ahrend and Walter J. Farr.
Sibyl’s life was all about her very large family. She is remembered by her children, Dorothy Moyer, John Lange, Robert Lange, Mark Lange and his wife Nereida, and Virginia Bailey, and her husband Jim. She was also blessed with twelve grandchildren, Michael, William and Erin Moyer, Olivia, Nicolette, and Christian Lange, Robert and Ashley Tatum Lange, Sonia and Elena Lange, and Ben and Abby Bailey. Sibyl also leaves behind four great-grandchildren, Molly Kate, Nico, Enzo, and Luca. She adored and was so proud of them all. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, beloved friends, and foreign students from around the world.
Sibyl was committed to helping people. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College and received her Masters in Education from the University of Virginia. She was a teacher, scout leader, and foreign student host “mom” to dozens of foreign students. She and Jack ran large cattle farms in Virginia and loved traveling the world. Among many community service activities, she loved her service to the St. Johns in the Wilderness Altar Guild, the Book Exchange, Four Seasons Hospice, and the Henderson County Habitat for Humanity. She also served as an accountant with H&R Block for 20 years. Sibyl was active with the American Association of University Women and the Mount Holyoke Alumnae Association.
There will be no formal visitation for the protection of everyone due to the Covid virus. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 8, 2021, at St. Johns in the Wilderness Episcopal Church, Flat Rock, NC. We would like to ask each one who attends to please wear a mask and maintain safe social distancing for the safety of everyone. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Johns in the Wilderness Church, 1895 Greenville Hwy, Flat Rock, NC, 28731 or Four Seasons Foundation, 221 N. Main Street, Hendersonville, NC 28792.
The family would like to thank everyone at Four Seasons Hospice and the Elizabeth House for their amazing, loving care for our Mom. We have been very blessed by the love and peace they provided Mom at the end of her long and adventurous life.
