Gifts & Memorial Donations

Sandra Ann “Sandy” Pressley peacefully passed away on December 25th, 2020 in Flat Rock, NC. Sandy grew up in Waldwick, New Jersey where she served as a volunteer on the local ambulance corps. She became a registered nurse in Bergen County before relocating to the mountains of western North Carolina where she continued in her career at area hospitals. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her husband and family. She especially enjoyed hiking with her son and the company of her dogs Abby and Merlin.
Sandy was a huge fan of figure skating and ballet and tried to attend every performance of the Asheville Lyric Opera. She had both the heart of a fighter and an appreciation for adventure hidden behind her quiet demeanor. She will be remembered as a kind and genuine soul and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband Jack Pressley. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, James Stewart of Fletcher, NC; her parents, Alexander and Ann Sankowich of Hendersonville, NC; her siblings, Michael A. Sankowich (Donna) of Denville, NJ, Bruce Sankowich of Pequest, NJ, Susan King of Kanab, UT, and Alexander N. Sankowich Jr. (Joy) of Lincolnton, NC; her nine nephews, three nieces and numerous great-nephews and nieces.
The family would like to thank Annette Glasgow, as well as the staff at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock NC. Donations in Sandy’s memory may be given to the Elizabeth House or to Brother Wolf Animal Sanctuary in Asheville, NC.

    SUSAN KING says:
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God. Receive your heavenly reward big sister. You are loved.
