Ruth Lillian Doten, 82, of Hendersonville, died Monday, February 29 at the Laurels of Hendersonville. A native of Holden, MA, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Willard S. Smith and Ruth Marshall Smith. She was a graduate of Holden High School and attended the University of New Hampshire. She worked at the Red Door Gift Shop and Tidman’s Rug Center in Holden and also was a ward clerk at Holden Hospital. A member of Grace Lutheran Church, she participated in many volunteer activities including Altar Guild, Congregational Care, Owls, Circles and quilting.
Mrs. Doten is survived by her husband, James E. Doten; daughter, Donna E. Morris of Worcester, MA; two sons, Stephen J. Doten of Hendersonville and Glenn H. Doten (Linn) of Dunbarton, NH; three grandchildren, Sarah E. Todd (Mark) and Elaine V. Doten of Hendersonville and James H. Doten (Sophia) of Kentucky; two great-grandchildren, Joshua Doten of Kentucky and Patricia Todd of Hendersonville; three step-grandchildren, Amy Corral of Hendersonville and James and Robert Croteau of Massachusetts; step-great-grandchild, Dillon Corral of Hendersonville and several other step -great-grandchildren. .
A memorial service will be held 2:00 Pm Tuesday, March 8, at Grace Lutheran Church. Rev. Greg Williams and Rev. Ken Langsdorf will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, c/o TMCFunding.com or to the charity of one’s choice.

    Ruth was in our Holden High School class 1951. She was a good student but not above playing pranks on someone. think we had our birthdays next to each other in Dec.. Mine was 14 & I THINK Ruth;s was the 15. My condolences to you all.
