Ruth Lee Kisner, age 90, with family at her side, was peacefully called home on September 18,
2019 in Hendersonville, NC.
Ruth, also known as “Lee” or “Pudge” by family and friends, was born on August 2, 1929 in
Huntingburg, Indiana. She was the youngest of six children. She graduated from the physical
therapy program at the University of Colorado and worked at Saginaw General Hospital with
polio patients. It was in Saginaw, Michigan where she met and married her husband Larry.
Following marriage, she dedicated herself to raising her three children. She enjoyed “coffee
time” with friends, bowling, swimming, volunteering at local hospitals, her children’s school, and
church, and knitting and needlepoint. Retirement brought her and Larry to Hendersonville, NC
to enjoy golf and the mountain scenery.
Ruth is survived by her three children, Steve of North Fort Myers, FL; Teresa of Colorado
Springs, CO; and Karen Burnell of Falcon, CO; three grandchildren Ted, Katie, and Krysti; and
two great granddaughters Kaelyn and Jaedyn. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63
years Lawrence; her father Dr. Waverly D. Bretz; mother Vera L. Bretz; brothers John, Robert,
Daniel and Charles; and sister Vera (“Lit”).
