Robert Matthew Witkop, 79, of Hendersonville, NC and Fort Myers, FL passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Hope Healthcare Services Hospice House. A native of Hampden, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Robert and Elizabeth Strahan Witkop. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jean who passed away in 2003; brother, Carl Witkop and sister, Sally Lloyd.

Bob was employed by Springfield Transit for 30 years as a welder and mechanic, having retired in 2002. He was of the Catholic faith and had served in the National Guard. He loved racing stock cars at Stafford Springs Motor Speedway and enjoyed snowmobiling with his family. Bob loved good friends, good food, taking his grandsons fishing and going on cruises with his wife of 15 years, Yvonne. His boat was his pride and joy for a number of years, but most of all Bob will be remembered for always being happy and loving his family dearly.

He is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne Witkop; daughter, Debi LaBelle and her husband, Joe; grandsons, Kyle LaBelle and his wife, Sara, Cody LaBelle and Jordan LaBelle. He is also survived by his stepdaughters, Linda Blake and Suzan Padgett.

A funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Friday, July 5, 2019 in the chapel of Shuler Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Jones officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered in Bob’s honor to Hope Healthcare Hospice House 2430 Diplomat Parkway East. Cape Coral, FL 33909
