Robert A Lupton, 88, of Hendersonville passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. His last words were “Please Remember Me, I loved all of you so much”.

A native of Teaneck, NJ, Bob was a resident of Henderson County for 30 years, he was the Son of the late Louis Alfred & Dorothy Gentry Lupton and was also preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-five years Marcia Davis Lupton, and his brother Donald Louis Lupton.

Bob, as he was known was a great loving husband to Marcia and a wonderful Father to their three children, Todd, Brett, and Brenda. Camping, boating, and fishing were great family activities, and you could always find Bob in his workshop. All the neighborhood kids played in our back yard and some ate with us at suppertime. As a Christian believer, he served as elder and teacher in several Presbyterian and Christian Church congregations.

Bob attended RCA Institute of Technology, Farleigh Dickenson University, Columbia University, University of Tulsa, University of Illinois, and the University of Tennessee at Oak Ridge. He spent two years at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University and went with graduating Ph.D. Dr. Walter R Eckelmann as a team to Carter Oil Co. in Tulsa, OK, to build and operate a Carbon 12/13 mass spectrometery lab for correlation of crude oils. Bob spent thirteen years at Esso Production Research Co. Houston. Two years at Imperial Oil Research Lab, Calgary, Canada, and then was called back by Dr. Wallace C Broecker to spend 22 years at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University, Palisades, New York from which he retired at fifty-eight in 1988.

Mr. Lupton is survived by sons, Todd Lupton and his wife Lee, Brett Lupton and his wife Stacey; daughter, Brenda Waid, and her husband Jamie, grandchildren, Connor, Danica, Joseph, and Tyler Lupton and his wife Sierra, great-grandchildren Marshall and Octavia, all of Hendersonville, and a number of nieces and nephews in Oklahoma.
