Richard Baxter Stevens

July 23, 1932 - February 26, 2021

Richard Baxter Stevens (88) of the Fruitland community in Hendersonville, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 26th, 2021. He was born July 23, 1932, in Rowan County, NC to the late Rev. Lowell and Julia Stevens.

He met the love of his life, Anna Gebe, while his father was pastoring Fruitland United Methodist Church, they married April 4, 1953. His passions included fishing, taking his grandkids camping at the beach, cutting and delivering loads of firewood to people in the community, watching NASCAR, and making everyone around him laugh. He retired from Berkley Mills.

He is survived by his wife Anna Gebe Stevens; daughter Dodie Stevens Nelon, and husband ML Nelon, and her children Jason Smith and Chase Smith; daughter Becky Stevens McClure and husband Steve McClure, and her children Chasity

Wehunt, and husband Kerry Wehunt; Daniel Beddingfield; and Matthew

Beddingfield, and wife Savannah Beddingfield; and six great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Billi K, Peyton, Wyatt, Morgan, and Raylan.

He is predeceased by a daughter, Kathy Young; son, Dickie Stevens; two brothers, Francis Stevens, Rev. Glenn Stevens; two sisters, Louise Ammons, and Evangeline Bowser.

A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Shepherd Memorial Park in Hendersonville NC.
