Rebecca Lynn Hampton, 50, of Hendersonville, went to be with the Lord Monday, July 18, at the Elizabeth House. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, she was a daughter of Alice Saxe of Mills River and the late Marvin Keener. She was also preceded in death by a son, Mark Eugene Hampton and a sister, Wanda Keener.

She had worked in the Garden Cafe of Pardee Hospital for ten years until illness forced her retirement. A devout Christian, she was a member of the Hendersonville Church of God. She was also an avid jigsaw puzzle enthusiast.

Lynn was one of the most devoted and dedicated wives and mothers you could ever meet. She is survived, in addition to her mother and step-father, Alice and Victor Saxe, by her loving husband of 36 years, Michael E. Hampton; a son, Kenneth Joseph Hampton of the home; a sister, Beverly Swann and her husband Kevin of Hendersonville; a brother, Jeff Keener and his wife Farrah of Candler and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held 11:00 am Thursday, July 21, at the Hendersonville Church of God. Rev. Herman Hudson will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 pm Wednesday, July 20, at Shuler Funeral Home. At other times they will be at their residence.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hope Academy at Mud Creek Baptist Church, 403 Rutledge Dr. Hendersonville, NC 28739.

    Cheryl King says:
I have known Lynn for about four years now. She had just learned that she had cancer when I first met her. In the four years that I have known Lynn, she has been the most positive, upbeat and faithful person that I have ever met. She has never said, "why me", or when others around us had illnesses and were cured she never said, "why not me". A few weeks ago I sat with Lynn for a few hours at her house. I had told her some good news of a mutual friend who was having a liver transplant and on her way to recovery. Lynn's face lit up and she could not praise God enough about this persons healing. She was so happy. Even in her darkest moments she was smiling and had such faith and courage. I will never forget her loving nature and the courage and strength she showed even at the very end. You will be missed so much.
