Phyllis Dean of Hendersonville, NC passed away peacefully on April 26, 2022 at the age of 88. She was born in New York, NY to parents Irving and Eve Morton, on June 28, 1933. After attending high school and college in Florida, Phyllis lived in New Hampshire where she was married to Leonard Davis and had three sons. She later moved back to West Palm Beach, FL where she lived for many years working as a teacher and a bookkeeper while raising her three boys. Phyllis moved to Hendersonville, NC with her second husband Walter Dean in 1995. While there, Phyllis attended Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute and graduated to earn her second degree (Christian Studies). Phyllis was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, NC where she was blessed to have many loving friends. Attending Sunday School (bible study) and volunteering at Crosswalk were a big part of her life. Known for telling jokes and funny stories, Phyllis had an infectious personality that made her a friend to all and stranger to none.
She is survived by her sons, Barry Davis and his wife Susan of Marietta, GA, Robert Davis and his wife Tina of Sebastian, FL, and Michael Davis of Roswell, GA; grandchildren, Logan Davis and his wife Emily of Seattle, WA, Chelsea Payne and her husband Riley of Marietta, GA, Brian Davis of Lake Mary, FL and Emily Davis of Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren, Sally Davis of Seattle, WA, Benjamin Davis of Seattle, WA, Harper Payne of Marietta, GA and Davis Payne of Marietta, GA; sister-in-law, Sheila Fagin and her husband Howard; nieces, Pamela Morton, Heidi Morton, Wendy Alexander and her husband Paul and their children George, Zoe and Henry. She is also survived by many dear friends in Hendersonville, NC and beyond.
A memorial service will be held at 11am at First Baptist Church Hendersonville on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 with Reverend Steve Scoggins officiating. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to the service at the church from 10-11am. Inurnment will take place at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in the afternoon.

I really loved Phyllis..I was privileged to have met her years ago when I awoke from a cancer surgery and found she was sitting by my bedside..Like an Angel , through the years she continued to fly in and out of my life. I know her memory will always be in the hearts of all the people she touched along the way throughout the years ..She made a positive impact and worked effortlessly for the charities she loved.I will always remember Phyllis.
