Phyllis Heffner Kitchen, 67, of Hendersonville went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation, following a period of declining health. A native of Lenoir, NC, she had resided in Henderson County for over 30 years. She was a daughter of the Late Hubert and Ruby Heffner.
Phyllis was employed as a librarian with the Henderson County Library for over 30 years. She loved to read and always enjoyed a good snowfall. She enjoyed singing and had a song for nearly everything. Phyllis had a love of dogs, birds and especially horses. She enjoyed car shows and was a part of the British Car Club of S.C. She deeply cherished being able to spend time with her niece and nephew.
She is survived by her sister, Michele Heffner Poarch and her husband, Jeffrey; niece, Madison Poarch; nephew, Ryan “RD” Poarch and her longtime boyfriend and love of her life, Richard Mills.
A funeral service will be held at 3pm on Friday, March 17, 2017 at East Flat Rock First Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Neelands officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3pm at the church prior to the service.

Phyllis always had a smile no matter how she felt. She was one of our Red Hat ladies and she will be missed by all. Our prayers are with Michelle and family.
