Myron Keith Redden

April 26, 1956 - January 15, 2021

Myron Keith Redden, age 64, of Hendersonville, NC passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 after a long battle with Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM).

Though born in Atlanta, Georgia on April 26, 1956, Myron was a lifelong resident of Hendersonville, NC.  He was the son of the late James Elma Redden and Martha Lenore Goode Redden, also of Hendersonville but retired to Woodruff, SC.

Myron graduated from East Henderson High School and then received his Culinary Arts degree from AB Technical College.  He completed his internship at the Greenbriar Resort in West Virginia before getting his first big chef’s job in Hilton Head, SC.  He was there for a weekend before returning home because it was too far from Terri, who he had just started dating.  Instead, he stayed local and mastered his baking skills at McFarlan Bakery.  He later went into manufacturing as a process engineer, first at Selee Corp. then Materials Innovation Technologies, and finally, Equilibar, where he finished his career.  While his career took him on a separate path from culinary art, he never lost his love for cooking and was considered the Redden Family Chef.  Cooking for others always brought him great joy.

Myron married his loving wife Terri on June 18, 1977 at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville where they were active members.  He served many years as a deacon as well as a teacher for the Son Risers Sunday School class.  He could also be found on the church basketball court where he was famous for his fadeaway jump shot.  Myron’s faith in God was evident to all who met him.  He knew and professed that faith, even through the struggles of his disease.  Myron used his life as an opportunity to serve and tell others about the love of Jesus.  He did this daily.

Besides being the beloved husband of Teresa (Terri) Maxwell Redden for over 43 years, he was the loving father of Blake Redden (Natalie) and Brad Redden (Ashley) and the devoted “Papa” to Emma, Ella, Max, Hensley, and Anniston.  He was also a dear brother to Mary Callicott and Stuart Redden (Brenda).  Myron is also survived by his father-in-law, John B. Maxwell, sister & brother-in-law, Vicki & Bill Worley, sister-in-law Dianne Redden and several nieces and nephews.

Besides being preceded in death by his parents, his brother Eric, Eric’s wife Jeanette, his brother Marty, brother-in-law Terry Callicott, niece Erin Redden, and mother-in-law Frances Maxwell also precede him.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at 3:00 PM.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but also to all who longed for His appearing.
