Mona Salinas, 92, of Hendersonville, passed away Thursday, September 26, at Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation. A native of Argentina, she had lived in Lake Lure and had been a resident of Henderson County since 1976. She had been the beachfront manager at Lake Lure and also manager of the Lake Lure Inn. She was a licensed realtor and had worked for Raintree, Inc. as a property manager. Mrs. Salinas was a dedicated volunteer for the Latino community, serving as a translator for the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Social Services and for the board of Centro Latino when it was founded. She received the Governor’s Award for her volunteer work. She was a longtime member of La Capilla De Santa Maria in Hendersonville.
Mrs. Salinas is survived by her daughter, Maria Sandbak and her husband Russell of Hendersonville; her son, Daniel A. Salinas and his wife Linda of Troutman, NC; four grandchildren, Michael Kember, Patricia Grooms, Sean Diggs and Daniel Salinas and three great-grandchildren, Gabriel Kember, Logan Grooms and Gage Grooms.
A celebration of Mona’s life will be held at a later date.
