Max Martin Layton, 85, passed away peacefully at his home following a brief illness.
Max was born in Marshfield, IN on October 14, 1935. He was the son of the late John and Maxine Layton. He lived many years in West Lebanon, IN. He graduated from West Lebanon High School and attended Ball State Teachers College. He relocated to Hendersonville, NC in 1971. Max was an International Marketing Manager with Ecusta Paper Corporation until he retired in 1997.
The only thing Max loved more than Indiana Hoosier basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball was his large family and his dog Teddy.
Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Charlotte Layton; son, Myron Layton (Renee); daughter, Myrna Layton Reesor (Greg); daughter in law, Denise Layton; grandchildren, Heather Gray, Jordan Robinson, Cody Layton, Dr. Layton Oyer, Michael Reesor, Lee Reesor, Becky Reesor; great grandchildren, Abbie, Mason, Sarah, Rylie, Gunner, and Natalie.
He is preceded in death by his son, Mike Layton; brother, Bill Layton, and parents John and Maxine Layton.
A private service will be held for the family Saturday at Shuler Funeral Home followed by burial at Shepherd Memorial Park.
