Mary Jo Hart, 69 of Hendersonville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 19, 2011. She passed away peacefully at home.
She was born in Asheville but spent almost all of her life in Hendersonville, and was a 1960 Hendersonville High School graduate. She worked for 28 years at Belding-Hemingway Company in Laurel Park.
All who knew Mary Jo will remember her as often being surrounded by the children and young people most of which knew her as Mom or Nannie. She loved them all so dearly, they adored her in return. She also had a heart and love for the deaf and served as interpreter at Calvary Baptist Church for many years. She will always be remembered for her smile and sweet disposition.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Hart and her mother Ruby Gosnell Hart and a brother Walter Hart. She is survived by her loving daughter Lynn Staggs and son-in-law Kevin Staggs; as well as her grandchildren Seth Staggs and wife Jessica, Christopher Staggs and wife Sarah, and Meaghan Staggs, all of Hendersonville; two great-granddaughters Genesis and Gracie; her sister Betty Truelove of Charlotte; her brother Douglas Hart and his wife Carolyn of Hendersonville. Other family members include her dear Aunt Alice Shelton of Ohio; six nephews, Jon Hart, Michael Hart and wife Pam, Tony Hart and wife Cindy, Jeff Hart and wife Lucinda, Tommy Hart and wife Amber, Joel Hart and wife Kelly, as well as eleven grandnieces and grandnephews.
Visitation will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday at Hope United Methodist Church (formerly East Flat Rock United Methodist). The funeral service will follow at 12:00pm will Dr. Tim Porter and Pastor Tommy Hart officiating.
