Margaret “Peg” McGrath, 89, of Hendersonville passed away Friday, March 23, 2018 at her home after a period of declining health. A native of New Jersey, Peg had lived in Henderson County for twenty-four years. She was the daughter of the late William and Anna Dyer Hopkins. Peg was also preceded in death by three brothers, William, Edward and Kenneth Hopkins. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-eight years, G. Roger McGrath; three daughters, Patricia Thummel (John Clendenning) of Hendersonville, Nancy S. McGrath (Joseph Taylor) of Marana, AZ, and Joan Pivec (Dean Sabins) of Severna Park, MD; a son, John E. McGrath (Stefanie) of Cypress, TX; her beloved grandchildren, Ryan Kulinski, Anne Kulinski, Maggie McGrath, Emily (David) Dwyer; one great granddaughter, Keyla Kulinski; a brother, John Hopkins (Elaine) of Goshen, NY; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Mass for Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday, March 28, 2018 in the Our Lady of the Angels Chapel of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Father Praveen will be the celebrant. A private entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Shuler Funeral Home.
