Linda Y. Benton, 77, of Hendersonville passed away Monday, December 14, at Pardee Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, she had lived in Fairfax, VA prior to moving to Hendersonville in 1999. She received her degree in English from George Mason University and retired from Federal Civil Service, having worked in several locations for the Pentagon and for the Department of the Interior. Linda was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, was a member of the Blue Ridge Agility Club and a volunteer for the Literary Council. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and training her Cairn Terriers and participating in agility competitions. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Colleen Benton and son in-law, Joel Mullican.
Linda is survived by her husband of 54 years, Patrick Benton; daughter, Christine Mullican of Ringgold, GA; two grandchildren, Jordan Rand (Brian) and Alex Mullican; great granddaughter, Lily Ann Rand; two sisters, Robin Martin and Lisa Oldham of Columbus, OH; brother, Greg Oldham of Columbus, OH and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A mass of the resurrection will be celebrated 2:00 PM Friday, March 19 in the Main Sanctuary of Immaculate Conception Church.
