Judith "Judi" McFerran Robertson

May 30, 1947 - April 7, 2022

A wonderful lady passed the morning of April 7, 2022. Judith McFerran Robertson was born in Ft. Smith, Arkansas in 1947. Judi was the daughter of Jack and Mary Sue McFerran and the sister of Steve McFerran and was raised in Texas, primarily in Corsicana. She then graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Education.

While in school at Austin, Judi met Ron Robertson and they were married in 1970. Ron worked for an oil company and they began a life of travel that lasted 51+ years in which they lived in 14 homes. Judi taught school in their first two stops, Houma, LA and Lagos, Nigeria. Their daughter Beth was born in Corsicana while they were in Lagos the first time. They were there 2 more times for a total of 10 years, then in London and several U.S. stops.

In each location, Judi was very active in the community and in the church they attended. A significant example of that was the years they lived in Algiers Point, New Orleans. When Ron and Judi left there, Judi received from the New Orleans City Council a Proclamation at the Algiers Courthouse that read: Be it proclaimed by the City of New Orleans that this council recognizes Judi Robertson, Active in community efforts to benefit Algiers Point Historic District Landmark Commission, Founder of the Algiers Historical Society and Friends of the Algiers Courthouse, Active in Christmas in October, Algiers Point Association, and the United Methodist Church, in the name of and by the authority vested in the Council of the City of New Orleans, August 25, 2002.

This was our Judi. In addition to the above, she was a creative person and an extremely talented quilter.

The memorial service will be held at Algiers United Methodist Church, 637 Opelousas Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70114 at 2PM on Sunday, May 22, 2022 with Reverend JoAnne Pounds officiating.

Oh Ron and Beth. I was just heartbroken to hear about Judi. She was a large part of our life in Algiers Point. I remember putting signs up in AP when she turned 50! We spent time together down in the basement of city hall researching our home's history. Live in a Landmark tours. Oh and our group Mardi Gras family reunion shirts. Just the best. It seems like a lifetime ago. Good memories though. Terrific memories that will always bring a smile to my face when reflecting back on them. Sending our love.

Dear Beth and Ron, I am so sorry to hear that you have lost your sweet Judi. I know how how much you both loved her, and what a huge hole her passing will leave in your hearts. Beth, I never met your mother in person, but she and your father raised an incredibly kind and thoughtful daughter who loved her tremendously, even when it became heartbreakingly difficult; both indications of her goodness . She couldn't have had a better caregiver. You have my deepest sympathy.
