Joseph Richard Bresko, 87 of Flat Rock, NC passed away Monday evening, January 6, 2020.
He was born on November 4, 1932, in Indianapolis, IN the son of Michael and Ida Bresko. He was the loving husband of Margaret for 58 years, devoted father to Debra (Phillip), John ( Stacy), Jeanne (Mark) and grandfather to Andrew (Andrea), Matthew, Michael, and Jason Wagner; Jillian and Kyle Bresko; Bradley, Bryan and Brendan Allnutt. As a young child, he moved to Miami, Florida. After graduation from Miami Edison High School, he served in the Navy during the Korean War on the USS Enterprise, USS Adirondack and USS Rushmore. He received a National Defense Service Medal. In addition to a long career in aviation at Eastern Airlines, he was also an entrepreneur over a span of fifty years; owning several businesses. He was an active member of Nativity Catholic Parish and the Knights of Columbus. He loved the ocean and enjoyed boating, sailing, fishing, and diving. He also enjoyed hiking, camping, landscaping \and gardening, building, architecture, aviation, and world travels.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 15th, 2020 from 6-8 pm at the Shuler Funeral Home; 125 Orrs Camp Road, Hendersonville NC. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 16th at 2:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 208 Seventh Avenue W., Hendersonville, NC. Burial will be held at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia. Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mr. Bresko to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Four Seasons Hospice 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
Joseph “Joe” was a man of integrity, faith, morality and lived his life through example. He was active in his community and church before retirement. He was dedicated to his family. Always generous and kind in life. He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
“The best is yet to come” may he be blessed with God’s grace and eternal love.
