John R. Endres left us peacefully on April 30, 2010 from Elizabeth House, a hospice facility in Flat Rock, North Carolina. He was surrounded by the love of his brothers and sisters and was well supported by compassionate care of the staff.
John was born in 1941 to Paul and Luciel Endres and raised in New Philadelphia, Ohio. He studied at St. Joseph University in Indiana and at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. John was the sports editor of the Daily Times, and a member of the Jaycees and the Toastmasters. He also served in the US Army Signal Corps during the Vietnam conflict. He followed this with an extensive career designing telephone communications infrastructure for developing areas in the US and abroad, including stints in Iran and Bolivia. His career also involved time spent working in Montana, California, Virginia, Massachusetts and most recently Florida. His loving wife Ella, who preceded him in death, was by his side in these 40 years of travel and varied experiences.
John was the consummate big brother and gave time, wisdom and on many occasions financial aid to his siblings. His heart was always open to our problems and mishaps.
He is survived by two daughters, Michelle and Robin, as well as his brother Dave and his wife, Jerri; his brother Joe; his sister Kathy and her husband, Wink; and his sister Debby and her husband, Allen. He was much loved and will be missed by all of us.
