John Melvin Carwile, 89, of Henderson County, NC died after a brief illness late Sunday evening, September 22, 2019 with his family near his side at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, NC.
Mr. Carwile was born on Sunday, December 22, 1929 in Appomattox, VA to the late Arthur P. and Beulah Mae (Garrett) Carwile.
He proudly served his country in the United State Navy before he was honorably discharged in February of 1950. He later worked at Kimberly-Clark Corp. for over twenty years before retiring in 1992 as a Superintendent of Maintenance.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his two daughters, Yvonne A. Carwile of Hendersonville, NC and Vivian S. Grooms and her husband, Dewayne of Mills River, NC. Also surviving is the love of his life, Robbie G. Parris of Hendersonville, NC and her son, Roger D. Parris and his wife, Clarissa of Mills River, NC; one grandson, Roger L. Parris and his wife, Helen also of Mills River; two great-grandchildren, Landon and Caroline; two brothers, Michael and Steven Carwile both of VA along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Michael D. Grooms who died in November of 1996; two brothers, Richard and Robert Carwile and a sister, Lois Marston.
A service to celebrate Mr. Carwile’s life will be two o’clock Thursday afternoon, September 26, 2019 at Upward Christian Fellowship, 991 Upward Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731 with Rev. Andy M. Craver officiating. The family will receive guests Thursday from 12 to 1:45 pm prior to the funeral in the church. Committal Services will follow with Military Honors will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hendersonville. NC.
Memorial contributions may be offered on behalf of Mr. Carwile to Upward Christian Fellowship to the El Salvador Church Building Fund.
John will be forever missed by his loving and devoted family and many close friends.
