Jerry ìCappî Russell Rice, 62 of Rutherfordton, died unexpectedly on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Park Ridge Health.

He was the son of the late Ralph & Helen Rice; and is also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Souther. Jerry worked over 25 years as a self-employed trucker. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was of the Baptist faith.

Jerry is survived by four sons; Chad Rice and his wife Amy of Rutherfordton, John Rice and his wife Sindy of Arden, Gary Rice of Hendersonville, and Joshua Rice of Asheboro, NC; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, William Rice and his wife Brenda of Fletcher; a sister, Nell Roberts of Balls Gap, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
