Janet Evalene Insley, 88, of Mills River went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the Elizabeth House following a period of declining health. She was a daughter of the late Orval and Nellore Rice, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald G. Insley; brother, Orval “Bud” Rice, Jr.; daughter, Pamela S. Insley and son, Kevin G. Insley. Janet was a native of Ohio who had resided in Port Charlotte, FL for 27 years before moving to Henderson County 3 years ago.
Janet was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Quilting Guild in Port Charlotte. She thoroughly enjoyed quilting, cooking and baking. Janet loved telling stories and spending time with her family. Fresh flowers could always be found in her house as she had a love for floral bouquets and plants. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will forever be missed by those who love her.
She is survived by her daughter, Gina Insley Long and her husband, Craig; granddaughters, Chelsea Lambert and her husband, Chris of Brevard, NC, Brittany LaBore and her husband, Eric of Locust, NC, and Courtney Long of Red Lodge, MT; great-grandchildren, Enslee Lambert, Colter Lambert, Levi LaBore, Camdyn Evalene LaBore and Everett LaBore; sisters, Darlene Rhodes and Vivian Brelsford; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in Ohio at a later date.

I knew Janet through our quilting guild in Florida. She was a dear, very positive and creative soul. She will be missed. My sympathies to her family.
