Hollis Justus, 88, of Hendersonville went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 12, 2008. He was born on September 2, 1920 in Henderson County, and lived here all of his life. He was the son of the late James Taylor Justus and Mary Jeanette Wells Justus. Hollis was a graduate of Edneyville High School and served with the US Navy during WWII. He made his living as a lumberman and owned his own sawmill. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Sue Marlow Justus; one son David Lee Justus and his wife Doris; one granddaughter Deonna Justus Constant and her husband Wade; one grandson David Lee Justus, II and his wife Debby; two great-grandsons, Lee Anderson and Daniel Justus and his wife Tonya; one great-granddaughter Tracey Justus; two sisters, Mittie Hull and Leona Lancaster; as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 3:30pm on Sunday at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Rev. Tony Hall will officiate. Burial will follow in Shepherd Memorial Park. His great-grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. At other times, they will be at the home of her son.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hendersonís Rest Home and Four Seasons Hospice for their loving care.
