J.Z. Forrest Maxwell, 85, of Hendersonville passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Sunday, January 10, 2021. He was of the Baptist faith and regularly attended Fletcher Baptist Church.
Born June 21, 1935 in Henderson County, he was the youngest of nine children to the late Mollie Stroupe Maxwell and George Washington Maxwell. He was a graduate of Edneyville High School and worked at General Electric for over 25 years. After retiring, he became active as a volunteer firefighter and is a Lifetime Member of Mountain Home Fire Department. Most recently he enjoyed spending his time attending events with the Apple Country Engine and Tractor Association. A lifelong resident, he took pride in maintaining the family property for friends and family to visit, as well as providing a place to enjoy his many animals.
J.Z. is survived by a son, Ryan Maxwell and wife, Adrienne; grandson, Conrad Maxwell; sister, Louise Willard; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda; brothers, Murgle Maxwell, Ralph Maxwell, and Lloyd Maxwell; and sisters, Dorothy Vassos, Pauline Clingenpeel, Gussie Reichle, and Evelyn Luttrell.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Friday, January 15, 2021 in the Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home with the Reverend Roy Waldroup officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Fruitland Cemetery. The family will have a meal at Mr. Maxwell’s home following the commital service at the cemetery.
