Hubert Boeck, Chef, Opie and Dad passed away quietly on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. He will be greatly missed.
He lived his life as he wanted.
Born in Vienna, Austria in 1935, immigrated to America in 1965 in search of better opportunities. He worked hard as a chef, loved food, and loved wine. He traveled the world, scuba dived, helicopter skied, but mostly he didn’t follow the rules! As a chef he was committed to helping those that had struggles. He employed people on a regular basis from the Rescue Center and an organization called Something Special to help them gain self-independence. He did the same in his personal life. He taught his family the importance of a good work ethic, having fun and enjoying what is around you.
At retirement he decided to become a farmer and create Arrowhead Vineyards. It was his dream and gave him so much pride and happiness. He loved the hard work and definitely worked his family to death! Hubert enjoyed walking the rows of the vines and he was always amazed what nature could do. Often we would go look for him and he would be sitting outside the barn and say “isn’t this just beautiful!”.
My dad was a thinker, a worrier, wine enthusiast, daredevil, a big flirt, and adventurer. He took so much pride in his family, as we take pride in saying he was a great husband, father, Opie and friend.
He leaves behind his wife Maria, daughters Eva Taliaferro, Cathy and her husband Sean Brovet, grandchildren Tessa and husband Jon Norman and Lucas Brovet.
So next time you pour a glass of wine, give a big shout out of “Prost”! Hubert.
