Gerl Lorane “Gerry” Nealy, 84, of Hendersonville, NC and formerly of Sebring, FL and Newville, PA died with his wife near his side at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC early Wednesday morning, July 17, 2019 following an extended illness.
Mr. Nealy was born on Tuesday, August 14, 1934 in Shenandoah County, VA to the late Oscar Hugh and Beulah Mae (Luttrell) Nealy. On July 2, 1956 in Chesapeake City, MD he married his loving wife of 63 years the former Deanna Kay Brumbaugh who survives.
In 1953, Mr. Nealy graduated from Boling Springs High School in Boling Springs, PA. Following high school, he became the co-owner of the Nealy Brothers Dairy Farm and later was a maintenance supervisor with SIM Missionary Retirement Village in Sebring, FL. He was a faithful member of his church, Mud Creek Baptist Church and attended the G.I.F.T. Sunday School Class. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and golfing. But his greatest love and joy were his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Loreen N. “Lorrie” Ritter and her husband, Geary of South Portland, ME, Tiffany L. Aumann and her husband, Aaron of Slidell, LA, Timothy G. Nealy of Jacksonville, FL and Jeffrey S. Nealy of San Diego, CA. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, Sydney K. Roques and Ryleigh S. Aumann both of Slidell, LA and 1 great-grandson, Bowen; sister, Bonnie Garrison of Palmyra, PA. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Jeremy Nealy who died in June of 2007 and 7 brothers and sisters.
A service to celebrate Mr. Nealy’s life will be two o’clock, Sunday afternoon, July 21, 2019 at Mud Creek Baptist Church, 403 Rutledge Drive, Hendersonville, NC 28739 with Rev. David Stanford officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 pm in the church sanctuary.
Memorial contributions may be offered on behalf of Mr. Nealy to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731 or the Mud Creek Baptist Church.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Elizabeth House and the Angels of Hospice for their care and consideration to their loved one in his last days.
Gerry will be forever missed by his loving and devoted family and many good friends.

Sorry I never got to meet him but I do know he left an impression on my grandson Bowen. He saw a picture of my grandfather and thought it was him. So in my opinion he displayed his love even for a child to recognize. Bless him and to all the family he left behind.
