Geraldine Edney Staton, 88, of Hendersonville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at her home.
A native and lifelong resident of Hendersonville, she was the daughter of the late Falium Newton Edney and Glannie McCrain Edney. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie A. Geraldine was a 1953 graduate of Flat Rock High School; and was a longtime member of Fair Haven Baptist Church. Having Scottish descent, she was affectionately known as the last queen of the McCrain clan. She was a loving wife and devoted mother. Her faith and charity were beyond measure.
She is survived by three daughters, Sharon S. Epperson of Hendersonville, Phyllis S. Perkins and her husband Thad of Mills River, and Tamara S. Thompson and her husband Jeff of Hendersonville; a son, Jimmie A. Staton, II of Flat Rock; two grandchildren, Sallie Suzanne and Caleigh Caroline; and numerous nieces and nephews to whom she loved.
A cryptside service will be held at 12 PM, Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the Staton Family Mausoleum in Oakdale Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to: The Todd Thompson Memorial Scholarship Fund at Blue Ridge Community College (endowed by her granddaughter, Suzanne Thompson).

Mrs. Staton was a kindhearted soul and always extended her generous gift of friendship and her testimony of her love for the Jesus. Her great sense of humor, stringing beans on her back porch, and her sweet smile will be greatly missed. I consider myself fortunate to have known her and so sad she has left this world but I take comfort that she has passed on to her eternal reward and to be reunited with her family once again. All my love to the family at this most difficult time.
