Gene Grady McMinn, Jr., 61, of Hendersonville, NC died unexpectedly with his wife by his side early Wednesday morning, July 1, 2020 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.

Mr. McMinn was born in Henderson County, NC on Tuesday, February 10, 1959 to the late Gene Grady and Thelma (Jones) McMinn. On June 30, 1978 in Pickens, SC he married his loving wife of 42 years, the former Margie Whitlock who survives.

Mr. McMinn was employed for many years with the Henderson County Maintenance Department where he was a supervisor. He was a faithful member of Barker Heights Baptist Church of Hendersonville, NC and a lifetime member of the Edneyville Fire Department.

In addition to his wife, Margie, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted son, Andrew H. McMinn, Sr. of Hendersonville, NC. Other survivors include his twin grandsons, Andrew, Jr., and Felix; four sisters, Marilyn Hoxit of Horse Shoe, NC, Eve Justice of Brevard, NC, Barbara Griffith and Penny Taylor both of Hendersonville, NC and one brother, William McMinn of Valley Hill, NC.

Graveside services to celebrate Mr. McMinn’s life will be two o’clock Wednesday afternoon, July 8, 2020 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hendersonville, NC with Rev. Joseph Hayes officiating. The family will receive guests from 12:00 noon Wednesday to 1:30 pm in the Shuler Funeral Home, 125 Orr’s Camp Road, Hendersonville, NC.

Memorial contributions may be offered on behalf of Mr. McMinn to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Gene will be forever missed by his loving and devoted family and many close friends.
