Evelyn Mary Schliecker, 73, of Hendersonville, NC died after an extended illness Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Pardee Hospital.

A native of Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Evelyn Schliecker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jack.

Evelyn earned her Doctorate in Psychology from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada and later became a professor of psychology at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, GA and Gordon State College in Barnesville, GA, where she was recognized as Professor of Emeritus.  She enjoyed reading, political interest, and spending time with her family and friends.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 18 wonderful years, Thomas Shelby; daughter, Devan Simpson of Montreal, Canada; stepdaughter, Jessica Shelby of San Antonio, TX; stepson, Tony Shelby of Winter Haven, FL; grandson, Dillon Braswell; and special friends, Tom Aielo and Elizabeth, Claudia Gonzalez, Madeline Gutman and Mark, Beth McNally, Mary Johnson, Genni Mannion, Pam Lawson and many other close friends.

At the family’s request, private services will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be offered on behalf of Mrs. Schliecker to the charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be shared at shulerfuneralhome.com.

Evelyn will be forever missed by her loving and devoted husband, family and many dear friends.
