Evah Mae Reese Cairnes, 95, of Mills River, died January 17, 2022 at Carolina Reserve of Hendersonville after a period of declining health.

A native of Boyd Township in Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Minnie Green Reese Hyder and Everette M. Reese.  She is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years Olen Levell Cairnes who was a WWII veteran.

Evah was a graduate of Mills River School and Blanton Business College.  She was a member of Boylston Baptist Church in Mills River.  Evah enjoyed hiking, gardening, travel, and genealogy.

She is survived by a son, Olen Jerry Cairnes of Hendersonville.

A service will be determined at a later date.
