Edna B. Perrin, 90, of Hendersonville, NC passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the Laurels of Hendersonville following a period of declining health. A native of Mississippi, she was a daughter of the late Ollie and Roine Jackson Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Doyace “Dutch” L. Perrin, Sr.; son, Stephen E. Perrin; six brothers and 5 sisters.
Edna was a former resident of both Mississippi and Louisiana, but had resided in North Carolina for the past 38 years. She was a member of Saluda Methodist Church in Saluda, NC and she and her late husband were faith members and workers with the Southern Methodist Church in Hammond, LA. She was a Worthy Matron and active member of Nova Stella Chapter No. 36, Order of the Eastern Star, located in Ponchatoula, LA. Edna and Dutch worked as missionary house parents at Boys Farm in Newberry, SC and were foster parents to many children in Ponchatoula, LA. She was involved with Polk County Hospice after Dutch’s passing, as she saw how much they had helped them through such a difficult time.
She is survived by her sons, Doyace “Dutch” L. Perrin, Jr and his wife, Sharon of Saluda, NC and Lee Perrin of Flat Rock, NC ; daughter, Linda Perrin Sance and her husband, Larry of Flat Rock, NC; daughter-in-law, Dorcas Crayton Perrin of Tickfaw, LA, and Claudia Amburgey- Easley foster daughter of Arcadia, LA; grandchildren, Jennifer P. Smith, Steven Perrin, Jonathan Perrin, Rebecca Sance, Julie Sance Justice, and Doyace Perrin III,; step-grandchildren, Tammy DiMittia and Lisa DiMittia; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter and a great-great grandson and sister, Jewell Brown Bonds of Roxie, Miss.
A memorial service will be held 5:30pm on Thursday, October 27 at Bethesda Baptist Church in East Flat Rock, for family and friends. A memorial service in Ponchatoula, LA will be held at a later date as well. The family is receiving friends at the home on Cinnamon Way in Flat Rock. Edna will be laid to rest in Sand Hill Cemetery in Ponchatoula, LA, next to her husband, at a date that will be disclosed at a later time.
