Dr. Allen Fred Scheuneman, 90, of Henderson County, NC, went to be with our Lord late Tuesday afternoon, September 17, 2019 with his loving wife near his side.

Dr. Scheuneman was born on Tuesday, April 16, 1929 in Wahoo, NE to the late John F. and Greta L. (Noerenberg) Scheuneman. On June 16, 1979 in Thief River Falls, MN he married his loving wife of 40 years, the former Connie B. Aaseby, who survives.

Dr. Scheuneman was educated in pre-med at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and graduated from the University Of Nebraska College Of Medicine in 1954. He interned at Immanuel Deaconess Hospital in Omaha before enlisting in the USAF as a flight surgeon at Offutt Airforce Base. He practiced briefly in Arnold, NE before moving his family to Warroad, MN, where for most of the seven years he was the only physician in Warroad. In 1965 Dr. Scheuneman and his family re-located to Thief River Falls, MN. In 1983 he and his wife, Connie moved to Tulsa, OK where he joined the faculty and staff of Oral Roberts University School of Medicine and ORU Family Practice Center. In 1986 they moved back to Minnesota where Dr. Scheuneman practiced briefly in Paynesville, MN before returning to Thief River Falls where he finished out his career. In 1994 they moved to North Carolina where he spent his retirement years enjoying gardening, watching nature and wildlife, reading and playing with his Bichon Frise’ Beno. He was a faithful and devoted member of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, NC. He especially enjoyed studying prophecy. Dr. Scheuneman was a dedicated physician devoted to his patients and families. He received a calling to become a physician when he was at a Christian youth camp. For all of his career he took a special interest in obstetrics and surgery. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a smile that would light up a room. To his family he was Dad and Grandpa, to Connie his wife, he was the love of her life, to his friends he was Al, to his hunting buddies he was Doc, but to his precious pediatric patients he was “Dr. Cinnamon.”

In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters, Susan Ellis and her husband, Thomas of Palisade, MN and Nancy Sullivan and her husband, Peter of Bemidji, MN; a son, James Scheuneman and his wife, Beth of San Tan Valley, AZ.
