Dottie Griggs, 84, of Hendersonville, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Carolina Healthcare System in Pineville, NC. Born in Marion, NC she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Myrah Norton. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Henry Norton.

Dottie was a member of First Baptist Church, Hendersonville and found great joy in her volunteer work with their youth ministry “Crosswalk.” She also volunteered with Mission Hospital and the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office. Prior to retiring in Hendersonville, she worked as a medical receptionist in Charleston, SC.

Survivors include her loving husband, Clarence E. Griggs; daughter, Pat Fail and husband Chris; sons, Mike Griggs and wife Diane and Jim Griggs and wife Cindy; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 11am on Thursday, August 11, 2016 in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 3pm in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

    Mrs. Dottie holds a special place in my heart. I worked with her at the Henderson County Courthouse, she was always a shining light and kept me smiling. So very sorry for your loss, and the great loss to the community.
