Don Ray Rummage

October 31, 1941 - February 4, 2021

Don Ray Rummage, 79 of Hendersonville, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at his home.  Born in Monroe, NC he was a son of the late Shelby and Emma Lomax Rummage.   He was also preceded in death by a brother Ronnie Rummage; and his beloved wife Paula Riggins Rummage in 2011.

Don was a graduate of the Cincinnati School of Mortuary Science class of 1964.  He began his career at McEwen Funeral Home in Charlotte.  He then moved to Hendersonville in 1966 beginning 55-years of service to the Hendersonville community, first at Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors and most recently at Shuler-Forest Lawn Funeral Homes.  He was a member of Hendersonville First United Methodist Church, where he was active in the Roy Johnson Sunday School Class.  Don was an avid golfer and fan of western movies and novels.

Surviving is his son, Aaron Rummage and his wife Rhonda of Flat Rock; grandchildren Morgan Rummage of Mississippi, Clark Rummage of Flat Rock, Emma Rummage of Jacksonville and Kaitlyn Shipman of Charlotte; a brother Clark Rummage and his wife Linda of Monroe; and several nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service in the chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Roy Johnson Scholarship Fund, c/o First United Methodist Church, 204 6th Avenue West, Hendersonville, NC 28739.
