Charles Phillip "Phil " Sitton

February 10, 1942 - November 5, 2020

On November 5th, 2020 at 3:33am, Charles Phillip (Phil) Sitton left his earthly home and stepped unto the arms of his savior to begin his real life.

Phil was a quiet man who spoke softly and loved the outdoors, gardening, flea markets, gravely tractors, travel and his wife of fifty-six years, Viola Whitaker Sitton. He grew up in Mills River and was the son of the late Charles and Blanche Sitton. He was preceded in death by a brother, James (Jim) Sitton and sister, Pat Sitton Stancell of Walhalla, SC. He is survived by many nieces and nephews who love their Uncle Phil.

Phil loved his church family at Mt Gilead Baptist . He gladly filled several roles there, including Treasurer and Deacon for many years. He also served his country in Vietnam as a medic. Phil graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in Accounting and then later opened C.P Sitton Tax Service; providing accounting and tax services until his retirement.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to be made to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 56 Mt. Gilead Church Rd, Mills River, North Carolina, 28759.

Phil’s life will be celebrated November 10th at 2pm Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Mills River with Reverend Mike Goforth and Robert Ponder will also be officiating; the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
