Charles Anthony "Tony" McCrary

August 28, 1944 - June 13, 2020

Charles Anthony “Tony” McCrary, 75, of Mountain Home, NC died on June 13, 2020, at Mission Hospital.  He was a lifelong resident of Henderson County and was the son of the late Hubert “Skin” McCrary and Margaret (Taylor) McCrary.  Tony graduated from East Henderson High School and retired as a lineman with Duke Power.

He was a military veteran serving in the U.S. Army as a military police officer.  Tony attended Balfour Baptist Church as well as a member of the Elks Lodge, and the American Legion.

Tony was always a man that put his family first.  He was a loving husband and father and set a good example for his children to always be honest and show respect.  Tony was a great man. His love was not limited to his immediate family.  Tony’s love guided several neighborhood boys to be the men they are today, along with many others that he had become a father figure to throughout the years.  He was an avid outdoorsman, sharing his passion with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Philip McCrary.  Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 55 years, June Taylor McCrary; daughters, Angela M. Nix (Mack Brittain) of Etowah and Christina E. McCrary of Hendersonville; sons, Alan McCrary (Laurie McCrary) of Mills River and Jon T. McCrary (Cindy McCrary) of Inman, SC; grandchildren, Erik Nix, Myles McCrary, Cassidy Nix, Mitchell McCrary, and Cierra McCrary.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law Eva McCrary, nephew Joseph McCrary, and niece Jennifer McCrary.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 18, 2020, at the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Lund and Rev. Jerry Hinson officiating.
