    Connie Fullhart says:
Where do I begin....I’ll just begin at the beginning. Charles was absolutely the sweetest and kindest kid, boy, young man, man I’ve ever known. No exaggeration. He was was talented in many ways. I liked to call him the animal whisperer. He loved animals and would rescue the injured and care for them until all ready to release or find a home for them. He was an amazing swimmer! He swam across the Mississippi River and back all at one time. He told me “Halfway back I thought, ‘ I should’ve thought about this a little more.’ “. When we were 12 & 13 yrs old, our families crossed the Mississippi River to spend the day on a sandbar. We took everything needed to spend the day having fun. I oukdnt swim (still can’t) and the current kept pulling me further out until it was getting over my head. Although I screamed frantically for help, it was perceived by everybody that I was just joking, except for Charles. He came running and swam out to me and brought me safely to the bank. He absolutely saved my life. He had a one of a kind sense of humor. He sculpted, he drew, he built. He was brave and stood up for the underdog. He was honest, he was wise. I could go on and on. We grew up together. Our families being friends, we were together almost daily. So I knew him well. He will be so very missed. I called him Charles Alan. So, Charles Alan, I will see you again one day. Until then, enjoy fishing in those beautiful heavenly waters !!
