Rev. Cecil Lloyd Jones, 79, of Hendersonville, NC went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 29, 2020, at the Elizabeth House. He was born in Gastonia, NC to the late Ed Jones and Vergie Mullinax Jones. Cecil was also preceded in death by Karen Jones, Cecil Jones Jr., brother Caroll, and wife Genell Jones.
Cecil attended Flat Rock School and was a six-year veteran of the U.S. Army serving as military police and postal worker. He graduated from the Nazarene School of Ministry and was self-employed and owned Cecil Auto Repair.
Cecil was a member of the First Church of Nazarene and was involved in North Start Ministry “A Church without walls.” He loved car racing in his younger years. He played “Lots of golf” and was a member of the VFW, Shiners, a Sunday School Teacher, and a Chaplain for the Life Care Center of Hendersonville.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife Phyllis Barnett Jones; daughter Joyce Jones Surrett; and husband Johnny Surrett and son Tim Jones; grandchildren, Emilee and Chole; sisters, Roberta Jones Harms and husband Henry of Hendersonville, NC, Sheila Jones Murphy and husband Roy of Inman, SC; brothers, Rev. Roland Jones and wife Irene of TN, Edward Jones and wife Shirley of Hendersonville, NC; Donald and Margaret Mullinax, Bonnie Station, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hendersonville First Church of Nazarene on 11 North Washington Street, Hendersonville, NC with the Reverend Roland Jones officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Those in attendance are asked to please wear masks and maintain social distancing.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. He always greeted me with a hug anytime I saw him. Sorry I will not be there for the celebration of his life.
