CareLean Collins, 90, of Flat Rock, NC and formerly of Etowah, NC died peacefully after an extended illness with her family near her side late Tuesday morning, August 27, 2019.
Mrs. Collins was born on Friday, August 31, 1928 in Henderson County to the late James Curtis and Nola Geneva (Hyder) McCraw. On December 21, 1951 in Henderson County as the former CareLean McCraw she married her loving husband of 60 years, Mr. Melvin “Roy” Collins who died on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2011.
Mrs. Collins was a faithful member of her church, Antioch Baptist Church for over 40 years and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her five children, Barry L. Collins and his wife, Liz of Greenville, SC, Darlene S. Garren and her husband, Dennis of Etowah, NC, Margie C. Duncan and her husband, Harold of Big Willow, NC, Glenn R. Collins and his wife, Janice of Big Hungry, NC and Jeff M. Collins of Six Mile, SC; and also many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Other survivors include a sister, Ivory M. Gilliam of Flat Rock, NC and a brother Noel C. McCraw and his wife, Pat of Hendersonville, NC. In addition to her parents and late husband she is preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Candace G. McCombs and her beloved grandson, Travis A. Duncan.
Funeral services to celebrate Mrs. Collins’ life will be held two o’clock Friday afternoon, August 30, 2019 at Antioch Baptist Church, 14 Chastain Hill Road, Horse Shoe, NC 28742 with Rev. Tommy Hart and with Rev. Jerry Lively officiating. The family will receive guests from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday evening in the Shuler Funeral Chapel in Hendersonville, NC and also one hour prior to services in the church on Friday afternoon. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in Oak Forest Cemetery in Etowah, NC.
Memorial contributions may offered on behalf of Mrs. Collins to Antioch Baptist Church in Horse Shoe, NC or to the donor’s choice.
CareLean will be forever missed by her loving and devoted family and many dear friends.

I am so sorry for your loss ..nanny was suck a loving lady ..I loved going to nanny and papaws house with shannon and lord never tell that woman you were bored she would make us clean it didnt matter who you were you was family to her ...she is in a better place now and no more suffering..she will be greatly missed
