Betty Jean Penland Pressley, age 92, of Henderson County, NC departed to be with the Lord on Sunday morning August 8, 2021. She was the daughter of the late John Lester Penland and Alberta Crook Penland. She was born on October 5, 1928, in Buncombe County. She was the wife of the late Leonard Pressley of Horse Shoe who was a World War II veteran.
She is survived by four children Virginia (Ginny) Howard and husband (Ken), Faye Pressley
and husband (Larry Lewis), Phil Pressley and wife (Jean), and Lisa Jones and husband (Mauricio Marin) as well as 6 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Forge Valley Baptist Church where had served as a piano player for many years. She is known as a lady who loved the Lord. She spent the last 4 years as a resident of Kingsbridge House in Brevard, NC. She loved her family, working in the garden, home canning, and sewing. She always had a ready smile even through her illness and was referred to as “granny” by both the residents and staff at Kingsbridge House.
The family will receive friends at Shuler’s Funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday. The funeral service will be held on Friday at Shuler’s Funeral Home at 2:00 with burial following at Shepherd’s Memorial Park.
