Betty Gunning Caroway, 76, of Hendersonville, died Wednesday, July 3, at the Elizabeth House. A native of Union County, SC she had been a resident of Henderson County since 1963. She was the wife of the late Samuel ìSamî B. Caroway who died in 2000. She had been a supervisor at several family care facilities and was a member of Wayside Baptist Church. She was the loving mother and “memaw” to two sons and their wives, Tim and Gina Caroway and Brian and Esther Caroway; two daughters and their husbands, Beverly and George Whitaker and Teresa and Tommy Lyons; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 10, in the Kirby Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff Tankersly will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
